Summer Fun

I'm sitting in the Fort Walton Beach airport waiting for my flight to Colorado Springs for work, so I figured I'd type up a quick update blog. Since Bryan has been home, I feel like we are constantly on the go. We're trying to make the most of his time before he leaves for Senior NCOA in a couple weeks.

For Memorial Day, we waited for a tropical storm. I was kind of looking forward to it. Dreary days filled with good food, wine, and Netflix marathons. We put away all of our yard items that could become projectiles. We went grocery shopping. And then... nothing. In fact, the day the storm made landfall, we did a Memorial Day Murph. We had to run in the rain, but there was no storm. Kind of disappointing.

After Memorial Day, we had some beach days and some parties. We started to get into a bit of a rhythm with our schedules, but that didn't last long. We decided to buy a condo as an investment property, so we are in the thick of all that. Trying to get it done before Bryan leaves for school for 5 weeks.

We took a 4 night trip to New Orleans to meet Bryan's parents and aunt and uncle. We stayed at Harrah's Casino ,which was really nice. Hoss came along and we boarded him at a place nearby so we could see him every day. Since I'm an early riser, I was up every morning exploring the city and having coffee and beignets. I tried as much NOLA food as I had time for and did a pub crawl on Bourbon. We also went on a Haunted Pub Crawl where Bryan actually had a ghostly encounter of an unseen entity splashing his beer all over his face! We also visited NOLA's oldest and most notorious vampire bar! I loved it so much that I made my own gumbo when we got home.

I've been working at the same places (MCEC and VOAV) and got to celebrate my very first booking with Pixie and Pirate Destinations! I've got a few more in the works, and 2019 Disneyworld packages become available on June 19th, so if you're interested, shoot me a message! I'm still working hard in the gym and signed up for a rowing competition to benefit the Special Olympics!

This weekend, we had a lazy night in on Friday (after the 4 nights in NOLA, we needed it). Saturday we went to a BBQ at Bryan's chief's house where I made some yummy antipasto skewers. Such an easy appetizer to take to a party! Then on Sunday, our friends were nice enough to take us out on their boat. Hoss got to come along. He did such a good job, but was pretty unsure about the water. We're hoping some more exposure will make him less nervous.

I'm off to Colorado Spring until Wednesday and then Bryan's sister and her family will be visiting us for a week! I'm excited to take my nephews to the beach, a Blue Wahoos game, and out on my SUP!
